Clinton County Community Foundation Awards Grants

Non-profit organizations awarded more than $304,750 during second half of 2014

December 17, 2014 — The Clinton County Community Foundation has awarded $304,750 in competitive grants during the second half of 2014. Combined with the first half total of $28,300 this brings the total of competitive grants awarded to $333,050 for the year.

“These grants are made from our community grants/unrestricted funds,” said John Shoup, chairman of the Clinton County Community Foundation Services Committee.  “We are in a match period to build our endowment assets and increase our grantmaking capabilities. For every $1 given to our community grants/unrestricted funds, Lilly Endowment will match with a $1. When the challenge is successfully met, $1 million ($500,000 from donors and $500,000 matched) will be put to work in our community. What a great opportunity to double your giving and support the services and programs that are so important to our community.”

The following agencies and programs were awarded competitive grants:

$10,000 to the Clinton County Boys and Girls Club will be used as a partial match for the grant awarded from North Central Health Services to purchase a passenger bus.

$2,000 to the Clinton County Economic Advancement Foundation for the Healthy Communities of Clinton County supports the 'Infant Mortality Prenatal Care' program. The goal is to reduce premature births, improve birth weight, educate mothers about the effects of smoking and improper sleeping arrangements, and increase the number of babies who nurse.

$3,500 to Girls on the Run of Central Indiana will provide scholarship and program assistance to expand from one program at Suncrest Elementary to five programs throughout Clinton County. GOTR teaches life skills through fun, engaging lessons that celebrate the joy of movement and consists of a three-part curriculum based on developing physical, psychological and social development assets.

Up to $10,000 for a match to Indiana Lions Foundation for the Rossville Area Lion's Club will be used to purchase a soft-serve ice cream trailer that is used throughout the Rossville community. The soft-serve ice cream trailer is one of the organization's most popular fundraisers with all proceeds going back to benefit the community.
